Advantages of Electric Oven

01/

Consistent Heating: Electric ovens provide even and consistent heating throughout the cooking process, making them ideal for baking, where precise temperature control is crucial.

02/

Ease of Use: Electric ovens are generally easier to operate and maintain. They feature straightforward temperature controls and often come equipped with features such as digital timers and self-cleaning functions.

03/

Safety: Electric ovens are considered safer as they lack open flames or the risk of gas leaks. There's no need to worry about pilot lights, reducing the likelihood of accidents.

04/

Moist Cooking: Electric ovens tend to retain moisture better than gas ovens, which can be advantageous for dishes like roasts and baked goods.

Basic Principles of Electric Oven

The electric oven consists of a control board, temperature sensor, broil element, and bake element. The user provides the temperature and time. The control board sends the 120V current to both the broil and bake heating element.

The oven is preheated, and the control board monitors the temperature sensor using an oven control thermostat. The cycle is repeated and controlled by the control board until the desired temperature is achieved.

The broil setting uses broil elements only. Both the elements are used in the bake setting, and the bake element generates most of the heat. A convection oven fan circulates the heat all around the oven to bake or cook the food evenly.

Use of an Electric Oven

Small Electric Oven for Home Baking

Ovens use electricity and can heat to a very high temperature. So it is not advisable to leave the food cooking in the oven unattended. Don't use the oven as a storage cupboard – someone might forget and turn it on. Make sure to keep the oven clean from grease and splatters of food that can catch fire.

Never use water on a kitchen grease fire; use a wet cloth to extinguish the fire. Keep oven gloves, tea towels, and other flammable materials away from the oven. Always turn off the oven when not in use and read the owner's manual before using the oven.

Pros of Microwave

Microwaves are small and compact, making them a great choice when you have limited kitchen space.

01

Excellent for reheating and defrosting food.

02

Microwaves can heat food or liquids faster than an oven.

03

They use less energy than an oven to run.

04

Easy to clean and maintain after each use.

Basic Principles of Microwave

Microwave ovens have an electron tube called a magnetron that produces microwaves inside. The microwaves are reflected in the metal inside of the oven and are absorbed by the food. Microwaves make water molecules in your food vibrate, which produces the heat that cooks the food.

Microwaves use non-ionizing radiation, which moves atoms in a molecule but doesn't remove electrons. Microwave radiation can't alter the chemical makeup of your food. This means there's no harm in using your microwave and eating food cooked by it.

Use of Microwave

Microwave ovens heat the food directly. They're pretty easy to use. You put your food in the device, press how long you want it to cook, and make sure your food is completely heated. There are many microwave oven uses. They're a rapid cook device used for frozen meals, leftovers, and more. They cook food faster than conventional ovens and heat the food only instead of the whole oven compartment.

Safety Tips On Using Microwave

01/

Pay Attention To The Manual
How to use a microwave and microwave safety tips are often written in the user manual. You must not skip reading the manual to know everything about microwave safety instructions.

02/

Do Not Use Metal Containers
As you already know, metals are not microwave-proof. Using any kind of metal container inside the microwave can lead to severe accidents and microwave safety concerns.

03/

Do Not Put Sealed Containers Into A Microwave
Another thing that you must know about microwave safety features is to never microwave any sealed container. Heating food builds pressure within a container.

04/

Stir Food While Microwaving A Food Item
According to microwave safety tips, uneven or hard food items often create hotspots in the food where the heat cannot reach.

05/

Beware Of Overheating
The most important microwave safety tips that you must know, is to regulate the feature buttons in a microwave so that you can set the perfect timer and food-cooking feature to avoid burning or overcooking your food.

06/

Use Only Microwave-Proof Containers
If you read the microwave oven safety instructions then, you will know that you must only use containers like microwave-proof plastics, ceramics, and glass inside a microwave to ensure microwave oven food safety.

07/

Never Microwave Eggs With Shells
Unwanted pressure builds in when we heat hard surface materials in a microwave which can lead to malfunction of the microwave.

08/

Never Start An Empty Microwave
Always pay attention to never start your microwave when it is empty. You should also take care of this especially when you have children in your home.

FAQ

Q: What is an electric oven?

A: An electric oven is a kitchen appliance that runs on electricity rather than gas. For years, many electric ranges featured cooktops with electric coils. Newer models favor smoothtop and induction cooktops. Like gas ovens, eclectic ovens have interior heat elements that warm food via radiation.

Q: Which type of oven is best for baking?

A: Electric ovens are generally best for baking because of their consistent and even heat distribution.

Q: How do microwaves work?

A: Microwaves use short wavelength electromagnetic waves at a high frequency to vibrate the water molecules in food. As the water molecules vibrate, they get hot, and this heat helps to cook the food in the microwave.

Q: Are microwaves safe to use?

A: Yes. Microwaves give off a safe amount of radiation, and it's not the same type of radiation that is dangerous to your health. Most electronic devices, including a conventional oven, give off the same level of radiation.

Q: How do microwaves cook food?

A: The magnetron inside the oven converts ordinary electric power from a wall socket into very short radio waves (around 4 inches from crest to crest). They are transmitted by the oven's magnetron at a frequency of about 2450 Megahertz. At that frequency, power is readily absorbed by water, fats and sugars, resulting in very fast vibration and high temperatures that cook the food.
